San Miguel Allende – Next time around…

Beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Who wouldn’t love to travel there, especially if your mission each day was to focus on taking loads of gorgeous photographs? Sadly, I missed this trip, but maybe next time around?

A few months ago, Digital Labrador in Kansas City put together a photo workshop to San Miguel, and the fellow artists showed their work for March’s First Fridays event. Last night I went to the exhibit’s opening, because a friend of mine, John Valentine, was one of the photographers.

In John’s past life, he was an ad exec and is one of the founders of VML, Inc., a digital marketing agency in KC with a world-wide reputation. But lately, like me, he’s discovered his creative side. And it’s so fun to see!

One of his images, Ghost Town, was my favorite in the show. Proceeds of all sales go the Don Bosco Center, an organization that assists needy families in KC’s Northeast area. So despite being incredibly jealous that I hadn’t gone to San Miguel, too, it made me really happy to support John and my old neighborhood as well.

I actually created a 30-minute film on the Columbus Park area a few years ago, and the Don Bosco Center played a prominent role. Soon I’ll have the video uploaded for viewing.
